新圣约神学(NCT)和时代论(DT)有很多异同之处。先看不同的点:
NCT在释经上是取代论supersessionism:(1) the New Testament has interpretive priority over the Old Testament;新约在解经上优先于旧约 (2) national Israel functioned as a type of the New Testament church; 以色列民族是新约教会的预表;and (3) the New Testament indicates that Old Testament prophecies regarding national Israel are being fulfilled with the church.旧约关于以色列民族的预言已经在教会得到应验。(4)新约是神与教会--神的以色列所立的。
DT在释经上是非取代论nonsupersessionism:“(1) the OT is not reinterpreted by the NT; 旧约不需要被新约重新解释;(2) progressive revelation cannot cancel unconditional promises to Israel;渐进性启示不会取消对以色列民族的无条件的应许; (3) Israel is not a type of the church; 以色列民族不是教会的预表;and (4) OT promises can have a fulfillment with both Israel and the church.旧约的应许可以在以色列民和教会上同时应验。”(4)新约是神和以色列民族所立的。
两者的共同点:1)NCT and biblical Dispensationalism agree on the centrality of the Abrahamic Covenant to biblical covenants and to the theology of the OT。都认同亚伯拉罕之约在圣经的盟约和旧约的神学上的核心地位。2)都认为新约是因着耶稣的死而复活以及圣灵的浇灌开始的。3)都认为相对于旧约而言,新约从本质上是新的。
